MuslimsAt the time of the birth of the prophet Muhammad Indian subcontinent was ruled by many kings who often fight among themselves to conquer each other. Roughly the map of India was from Afghanistan to Burma breadth wise and From Tibet to Sri Lanka. The many islands in the three oceans near India were also ruled by the Hindu kings. The India influence was further developed up to the Indonesian islands as well. The Arabs were mainly traders from very old time, perhaps before Greek and Romans and Egyptians developed their civilizations. The Indian traders had very strong connections with Egypt, Greece and Romans and Mesopotamia. Arabs were link between the Indian traders and other civilizations in the middle east and far beyond. A few Arab traders were living in the Eastern coast of India at the time of the birth of Islam. Some scholars of Indian history believe that the Arabs who lived in the East coast of India after Prophet Muhammad converted the whole Arabia to his new faith Islam converted themselves to Islam, as they had their relatives in Arabia and perhaps it was good for their trade to be Muslims. This happened toward the end of seventh century. However they were only in small pockets of the east coast. As India was at that time had numerous kinds of faiths within the broad Hindu church, this was not seen as any kind of danger to the rest of the country. India has been absorbing many kinds of religious ideas from ancient times and ideas brought in by people from outside. The Alexander's invasion of India brought Greek influence on India at that time and it is often seen today as well in the arts and architects and other areas of knowledge. However the Greeks who remained in India became Indians. The first military invasion of Indian province of Sindha happened in the 8th century. After the death of Prophet the Islamic countries in the middle east were ruled by one figurehead of Allah called Caliph from Baghdad in present Iraq which was the part of Syria. The aim of Caliph was to send the armies of Islam all over the world to conquer land and convert people to Islamic faith and bring the wealth to Baghdad. One of the army general Mir Been Kasim invaded Sindh. The king of Sindh was called Dahir. He was killed and his wealth was looted including his wife and daughters who were taken to Baghdad as gift to Caliph. However only little conversion happened. Mir kasim went back to Arabia. By 11th century Islam spread up to Afghan and was ruled by many Islamic kings of many races. Some invaded Punjab and shortly spread up to Delhi, Later on an Afghan tribe leader called Babur declared himself as the descendent of Moghul ruler Changiz Khan and invaded Delhi and started the Moghul Dynasty that lasted for three hundred years. Most of the Moghul Kings had active plans of converting Hindus to Islamic faith. The moghuls were of Sunny sect of Islam. By this time South India was ruled by many Islamic kings who were Iranian origin and had Shi'a faith. There were many to her sects in Islam and many belonging to these faiths came to India for jobs and trades. So by the time British became supreme power in India Islam in India was not of one common faith but had many divisions and also people of many races from middle east Russia, Mongolia China and Africa. Even though they called one Islamic faith like Hindus they were of different races and of different colours and religiously of different section under one umbrella of Islam. As they came different parts of the world and different cultures many of them practiced various kinds of foods and clothing and languages and also had certain ways to look at the physical and mental disorders . Among the Muslims in the living in the North of India there are mainly two particular disorders are seen. Among many Muslim communities it is believed that many young girls are often possessed by the Satan or Iblis who are Islamic fallen angels. Often to get rid of these demons occupied the bodies numerous harsh exorcism is used including beating the person with cain or stick. There is also a strong tradition among the North Indian Muslims to marry the first cousins. This creates genetic problems in the issues either at regular basis or appear in the long descendents as well. In India often the dead persons tombs are worshipped by the Muslims who believe that by doing so their desires are fulfilled or disorders are cured. There are many times of Islamic medicines. Mainly they are brought under one umbrella and called Yunani medicine as the alternative to Hindu Ayurvedaic. The Islamic doctors inIndia are called Hakims.
